April 17th SAT - 11th grade April 18th PSAT - 9th and 10th grade PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BRING YOUR CHROMEBOOK AND CHARGER TO SCHOOL WITH YOU EVERY DAY, ESPECIALLY ON TESTING DAYS. Practice PSAT and SAT Administration February 21st: Trojans! We will have our Practice PSAT (for 9th and 10th graders) and SAT (for 11th graders) administration coming up on Wednesday, February 21st from 8:00 am to 10:59 am . Taking any and all tests (even practice ones) serious can help you better prepare for the official test in April. Time to get locked in! PSAT & SAT Fact Friday: 2/2/24 Did you know that the PSAT and SAT are completely digital this year? This is the first year the PSAT and SAT will be administered on your Chromebook. Not only will you get your results faster, but the test is also much shorter than in the past! The PSAT and SAT will take a little over 2 hours (the paper-based test took at least 3 hours). The practice PSAT and SAT on February 21st will be on your Chromebook. You will get to see what the test will be like on a digital platform. If you took the practice test in September, you will get to see how you have improved over the school year! PSAT & SAT Tip Tuesday: 2/6/24 Happy Tuesday Trojans! Here’s your test-taking tip for Tip Tuesday! It’s really important to fully understand the topics and skills that are covered on the PSAT and SAT so you can better understand your strength and opportunity areas! Make sure you are at school this week because you will be exploring the different reading, writing and math skills covered on the assessment during your advisory or Civics period. If you miss this important learning opportunity, make sure you check in with your advisory or Civics teacher to help you catch up! We also have a special activity planned where you can be featured on ACHS and Burrell’s Instagram feed! Details will be coming out during your advisory or Civics period! PSAT & SAT Tip Tuesday: 2/ 13 /24 Happy Tuesday Trojans! Here’s your P(SAT) test-taking tip for Tip Tuesday! Now is a great time to start practicing for the PSAT or SAT. There are a lot of resources to help you prepare for the digital assessment. One of those resources is Khan Academy. Khan Academy has lessons, videos, examples and practics quizzes and tests, mostly for the SAT. Best of all, the resource is free! Just visit www.khanacademy.org and click on Digital SAT” in the dropdown menu. Also, mark your calendars for February 21st ! We will be having our school-wide PSAT and SAT practice day. This practice opportunity will allow you to see what the digital platform and questions will be like. More information to come next week! Tuesday, February 20th Remember, tomorrow is our Practice PSAT and SAT day starting at 8:00 AM. You will go to the Commons to find out your room assignment for this practice test. Try to be at school on time at 8:00 AM and make sure you have a charged Chromebook. If you need a Chromebook, we can lend you one! Just let your assigned testing teacher know. This practice opportunity will allow you to see what the digital platform and questions will be like for both Reading/Writing and Math. CBS Denver shines light on the impact music is making on students participating in The Charles Burrell Visual & Performing Arts Campus’ Digital Music Production studio. ??? Aurora Central Trojans Meet Charles Burrell, 103: He’s 103 years old and has a school named after him in Aurora. Charles Burrell made history when he joined the Colorado Symphony in 1949. The Aurora Public Schools magnet school named in honor of Burrell will carry on the tradition of music and arts. ACHS/Charles Burrell has completed Phase 1 of our Construction and we wanted to share some images with our community. Our goal during Phase 1 was to provide spaces for our students and community members to be creative and innovative in their classes. Take a look at these spaces, and please know that we are currently in Phase 2 of our construction and will provide photos when that phase is complete.
